Typlt Lubomír

Before setting out to study at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Lubomír Typlt graduated at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno from the studio of Jiří Načeradský in the late 1990s. The main subject matter of his graduation cycle was a dead cat wrapped in polythene or lying around lifelessly. The aggressiveness of the subject was reflected in the painter’s palette during his studies in Germany: the cycle with young, mean boys whose grinning faces indicate malicious children’s games is distinct because of its expressive palette limited to pure primary colours. Through the composition in which the boys are positioned one next to the other Typlt’s second, abstract, approach enters the canvases. The boys are rhythmized in a manner similar to Typlt’s geometrically rational paintings of chained elliptical segments with have reached a peak in the canvases Turbína I. / Turbine I and Turbína II. / Turbine II which refer to Dadaist fictional objects. The cycle with Pinocchio surrounded by watering cans also combines the two approaches - expressive figuration and constructive abstraction – and has become the mascot of the Czech band WWW.
